How to Influence People without Authority
Presented by: Brian Ahearn

We should be proud to be in the insurance industry for two big reasons. First, we help people. After tragedy strikes insurance gets people and business up and running again. Second, we are vital part of the economy. Because of the guarantees we make lending institutions are more willing to take on risk which stimulates economic growth. It’s important that we understand how to ethically move people to do what’s in their best interest. This is where persuasion comes in. There are more than seven decades of research into the psychology of persuasion but very few people know the science. As a result, they are not as effective as they could be when it comes to getting others to act.

  • Understand the six principles of ethical persuasion
  • Learn the scientific research to back up claims of effectiveness
  • Have clear application of the principles in typical insurance scenarios
