What You'll Learn

The Certificate in Distance Education program begins with an overview of distance education and concludes with two specialized tracks that give you the opportunity to focus on your own professional development needs. Everyone completes the overview. You choose which of the other two tracks you will complete when you register. You may register for both tracks if you like.

• Overview (three modules)
• Systems Planning and Management (five modules)
• Instructional Development and Facilitation (five modules)

Designed with adult learning principles in mind, this course encourages participants to share their perspectives and needs and to situate their learning within their organizational context. We welcome opportunities to include participants' past and current experience in planning and developing distance education. The discussion forums in the overview and in both specialty tracks invite you to share your experience and plans for future projects.

Dates

The IU School of Continuing Studies Certificate in Distance Education program is offered each fall, spring, and summer.

The spring 2012 session will be held January 17-March 15.

The Summer 2012 session will be held May 28-July 30.
